Episode 22 + two announcements!

Dear Readers,

Episode 22 is here and you can also get Episode 23 if you pay at least a dollar a month on my Patreon. The season is drawing to a close, much is revealed, many battles are fought. (More like street fights, but okay…)

I didn’t post an episode notice last week because I was waiting for another announcement to make. Now I have the announcement, and another unrelated announcement too! So let’s take them one by one:

  1. Capricious magazine will run an Iwunen short story in their upcoming Gender Diverse Pronouns issue in October. Volatile Patterns features Ranai and Mirun investigating a case involving the textile industry.

The story is mostly about cultural appropriation specifically of sacred garments, which happens to Jews quite often – that’s where I got the idea. It’s not so much about gender, but Ranai and Mirun continue having their regular pronouns. πŸ˜€ Volatile Patterns is set about five years after the prologue season, and two years after the forthcoming first season. Some of you asked for stories where they are already an established couple – well, the first season is coming in less than a month, and there is this story too.

  2. I am editing the upcoming second volume of Transcendent: The Year’s Best Transgender Speculative Fiction! If you remember, the first volume, edited by K.M. Szpara, had one of my stories that was a precursor to the Iwunen webserial. Here you can find the submissions call and a constantly updating FAQ! Send your work, tell your friends πŸ™‚

Enjoy reading (and writing, and submitting),

Bogi.

Episode 20! Cheers and jubilations!

Dear Readers,

Episode 20 is up! And if you are on Patreon, you can get episode 21 already, too. (Plus don’t miss my book giveaway open to all Patreon backers.)

I want to do something to celebrate, but the end of the season is very close, so it will be easier to celebrate that? Seasons will be 26 episodes each. I welcome ideas of what kind of celebration you’d like to see πŸ™‚

Thank you very much for reading!!

Bogi.

Episode 19 is here!

The weekly free episode is up and you can get the paid episode too if you back with at least $1 / month on Patreon! You can basically get one plot twist after another, this is a quite exciting part. πŸ™‚

I have had a big work deadline just today, but I survived! I am very tired and my hands hurt from typing, so I’ll be brief this time. But I’d still like to reiterate that I really appreciate your support and I’m also glad that more and more people are linking to the serial on Twitter. πŸ™‚ Thank you!!

Chapter 18 is up!

Dear everyone,

Chapter 18 is now available for free online + you can also read Chapter 19 if you have a subscription via Patreon. πŸ™‚ Plot twists! They are happening!

A lot of things I’ve been working on will only be available a bit later – mostly fiction and nonfiction commissions – so it feels like I’m not doing anything when I’m actually doing a lot. It’s a bit difficult? But there will be a lot of things happening that I’m setting up right now. I am also a bit of an exhausted flop.

Thank you very much for your support, and good reading!!

New chapter + bonus reprint + reorganization

Dear everyone,

The weekly free chapter is up! The paid chapter is up too.

I reached a new Patreon goal, at $100 / month! The free bonus reprint has been unlocked and you can read it right now. $2 / month and above backers will also get an ebook of it that will probably go out on Thursday. ($5 / month and above backers will get a preview of the March awesome diverse book release list and that goes out tomorrow. So I don’t want to flood people with multiple updates a day.)

I made a list of upcoming Patreon goals and the stories that you’ve already unlocked. Free reading for everyone, ebooks for Patreon backers. πŸ™‚

My next goal is just $23 away, too – and it features two poems and two microfiction reprints. One of the poems, Trans Love Is, has been my most popular Patreon entry to date! So if we reach $125 / month, everyone gets it for free.

Also, if you’d like to read other people’s writing too (I recommend this course of action!), I made a hyperlinked version of the Nebula shortlist that was released earlier today – each story has a link to where you can read it for free, if available.

Thank you very much for your support!!

Chapter 16 is up!

Dear readers,

I teased this week’s free chapter months ago, and now we are finally getting to it. Wild garments attack! (Or should that be… “Wild garments, attack!” πŸ˜€ )

The paid chapter is also online now, and I am going to post a bonus poem tomorrow – it’s already scheduled. Thanks to more people joining on Patreon, I’m only $11 / month to my next monthly goal, a free & public story reprint!

Also, I just registered on Instagram and I’ve already posted some Iwunen-related stuff. You are very welcome to visit, follow, engage πŸ™‚

Thank you very much for all your support,

Bogi.

Episode 15 is available now!

Dear readers,

You can find the latest free episode here, and if you really cannot wait until next week, you can back my Patreon to get the next one right now.

I’m only $17 / month more to the next goal, the free online reprint of my SF story Changing Body Templates, originally published in Strange Bedfellows, shortlisted for the Aurora award. This is an #ownvoices story inspired by the Soviet occupation of Hungary.

I also had a free, public Patreon post about my plans with the serial! They are cool plans, so make sure you read πŸ˜€

$2 and higher backers could vote on how frequently they’d like to receive Iwunen ebooks, and the option for “twice per season” won (by a two-thirds majority!). Since we are past halfway for the prologue season, I made the first ebook and you can download it if you pledged at least $2 per month. Now is a great time to catch up, because some major plot twists are coming soon!

Thank you very much for your support,

Bogi.

Enjoy the new episode!

Dear readers,

The new free episode is up as scheduled, but if you can’t wait, you can always hop over to Patreon and read next week’s episode too for $1+.

This might be a good time to remind you that I had an article about migration, SFF and my life back in 2015. Since then, I got my green card, so now I can work legally off-campus, but with all these political changes I have no idea what’s going to happen.

Your support continues to be very much appreciated!

Bogi.

Chapter 13 + other work

Dear everyone,

Chapter 13 is online! There have also been a few other things from me that you can read: Strange Horizons had a roundtable on collective resistance where I was one of the discussants, and they also reprinted my poem You Are Here / Was: Blue Line to Memorial Park. This is set on Eren, like the webserial, so you might want to take a peek. πŸ™‚

If you are a Patreon backer, you also don’t want to miss my quick book giveaway; and if you like my reviews, I wrote about Gabriel Squailia’s Viscera. I have found the sleeper hit of 2016 and it is full of guts!

Thank you for all your support,

Bogi.

Chapter 12 is online!

Dear readers,

This week’s free chapter is here! Now with 100% more tree-shaped people… or people-shaped trees?

I got quite a lot of new Patreon backers lately. Thank you everyone! I hope you enjoy the series. Next week we will learn about wild garments roaming the land – if you are a backer on Patreon, you can read it already.

ALSO!!! NEWS! EXCLAMATION MARKS! Patreon goal #2 was reached last week, so everyone gets a free story reprint: Spirit Forms of the Sea, an Ancient Hungarian dark fantasy story originally published in Sword & Mythos edited by Silvia Moreno-Garcia and Paula R. Stiles. This is 100% public and you can read it right now. I put it here on the Iwunen website, because I’m not really sure where else to put it πŸ˜€

I have already made strides toward the next goal, $100/month too: it’s just $16/month away now! Since reprints seem to be popular, goal #3 is now a free online reprint of Changing Body Templates, a story originally published in Strange Bedfellows: An Anthology of Political Science Fiction, edited by Hayden Trenholm and shortlisted for the Aurora award. This is a story inspired by the Soviet occupation of Hungary.

Good reading, and thanks again for your support!
